  • Michael Ignatieff: Canada's Liberal Party's interim leader

Canada's Liberal Party has had to find a new leader earlier than expected, as Stephane Dion has stepped down as a result of the continuing controversy over the coalition of political parties' attempts to put themselves in government directly following a general election.

The new leader is Michael Ignatieff, a person known for his, shall we say, overenthusiastic support for the invasion of Iraq. It makes sense when you see his chart:

    Michael Ignatieff
Venus-Mars conjunct in Aries, loving the exertion of will through aggression. Sun in strong-willed, bulldozing Taurus in close opposition to a runaway Jupiter in Scorpio.  Moon in Aquarius opposite a Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Leo showing a see-saw between emotional detachment and all-consuming fiery passion and the capacity to destroy and tear down rather than create and build.

He has been appointed during the Jupiter-Saturn trine forming a Grand Trine with his Sun and Jupiter square to his Mars, with the Saturn-Uranus opposition squaring his natal Uranus, but also Neptune squaring his Sun and Jupiter. There is a strong element of glorification here, along with tension that could snap. It doesn't bode well, all told.

He has shown his potential for his worse side, now let's see if he can show his potential to be the best of these astrological placements. He certainly has his work cut out for him, let's hope he has some kind of honest personal development relationships in his life to help him lift up from the things that would bring him, and Canada, down.

  • About Barack Obama - a brief round-up of info

In future a fuller astrological article about the future President of the USA will be written and published. For the time being here's a re-print of two earlier entries from this blog that are worth bringing to the fore again, since the Barack Obama hype machine is in full swing at the moment:

17th June 2008: The more things change....

.... the more they stay the same. Sometimes.

The outgoing George Bush has Mars through Afghanistan and Venus through Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The possibly-incoming Barack Obama has Mars through Iraq and Iran and Saudi Arabia and Venus through Iran.

Change? I'm not convinced they know what it means.

10th March 2008: USA Election Candidates

In this entry I want to draw attention to the area of the Zodiac at 10-14 degrees of Leo.

Barack Obama: Sun at 12 Leo
Hillary Clinton: Mars-Pluto conjunction at 14 Leo

No wonder those two are in a fight to the death......... and yet they're in the same political party: the (so-called) Democrats.

John McCain, the Republican candidate: Mars at 12 Leo.

So whichever one gets elected, there's something the same about them, and let's not mince words, Leo is not a Sign of democracy, particularly when these planets symbolising the will are placed there.

George Bush, the current president: Mercury-Pluto conjunction at 10 Leo

Bill Clinton, the former president: Pluto at 12 Leo - he actually has a Mercury-Pluto conjunction just like Bush.

The president before that, the other George Bush, doesn't have anything here in these degrees. The closest he has is Neptune at 18 Leo. And checking before him, Reagan and Carter don't have anything here or close by either - you have to go back to Gerald Ford who was president from 1974-1977 before you get anything close - Mercury at 16 Leo, but before him Nixon didn't have anything here at all.

So there's a continuation of 'aggressive' planets in this small degree area running from January 1993 and into the future for at least another 4 years.

And no matter whether a Democrat or a Republican is elected, the pattern holds over a 19 year period - that's a generation.

Looking at the USA's chart there are no planets in these degrees or even opposite or square to them. There are some interesting midpoints:

    • Mars/MC
    • Saturn/Uranus
    • Venus/Neptune
    • Jupiter/Neptune

Plenty to ponder here, about why this recurring theme is there and where it's coming from..... and where it's heading to.
