On Friday Gordon Brown announced that he's forming a National Economic Council, supposedly to help cope with the financial times in which we now live. Sounds like a reaction to me, and is a copying of the USA in any case - they have one, so we'll get one. Hardly an example of leadership.
Anyway, here's the chart for the scheduled time of its first meeting, tomorrow at 11am.

Venus and Mars in Scorpio, with Venus in the 12th house? Not good for financial transparency.
The Saturn-Uranus opposition is across the IC-MC axis. Not a good idea to start something like this at this time but I suppose it at least puts this most relevant of oppositions in a prominent place.
Moon and Jupiter in Capricorn, especially in the 2nd house, is better for getting the housekeeping in order. Whether or not Pluto will be in the 2nd house depends on whether or not the meeting starts on time, or earlier, or later. As the planet symbolising wealth it's more than a little bit important.
The above two paragraphs are connected, since Jupiter is trine Saturn from the 2nd to the 10th. In theory that suggests something about financial stability, but with Uranus opposite it's more about the disruption of the boom-and-bust greed-fear cycle that must be re-organised if we want any kind of stability.
And all of the above are connected by Venus (finances) being on the half-way point between Jupiter and Saturn, and also in sextile aspect with them both.
It's a large committee so that alone suggests failure, and the lateness in appearing to address the times in which we live demonstrates gross incompetence, even if you only judge the government on the success of its PR activities. But enshrining the Saturn-Uranus opposition into a committee's chart like this isn't what I'd recommend. As Pluto moves back into Capricorn it's going to approach that Moon in the 2nd house, and sextile Mars in Scorpio. It could symbolise some resurrection, which is much-needed, but resurrection of the right thing, not the wrong thing....
All in all, why there needs to be a committee for this when there's already a Cabinet and an entire Treasury, god only knows - or maybe Dilbert has the answer. In any case, Pluto moving through Capricorn is when things will get sorted through, not while it's in Sagittarius, and most importantly the time to set the economy right was before the Saturn-Uranus opposition, and they did know - even without astrology - that all this was coming.
