Pakistan

by a21cent @ Thursday, 27. Dec, 2007 - 08:58:13 pm

Turning to the chart of Pakistan, we find some apposite links with Bhutto's chart:

Pakistan's Sun at 21 Leo 07 is conjunct Bhutto's Pluto at 21 Leo 21.

Pakistan's Mars at 00 Cancer 35 is conjunct Bhutto's Sun at 29 Gemini 55, and Mars at 4 Cancer 59.

And what about Pakistan's current transits?

Transiting Mars (retrograde) closely conjunct the country's Mars - infamous as the planet of war, but it's also the planet of taking the bull by the horns and finally getting to grips with long-standing problems, sorting them out or at least moving them forwards.

Transiting Neptune in the 10th house opposite the Sun - leadership crisis, a loss of identity and perhaps undermining of sovereignty somehow. Things tend to dissolve and flood with chaos until a new way of being in the world slowly takes form, but first the old ways have to be washed away.

Transiting Neptune square Ascendant & Descendant - similar to the above. Pakistan's relationship to itself and to its allies is radically changing. Something new and healthier is trying to emerge.

Transiting Pluto opposite Mars - signifies leadership crisis too, but also the need to deal with a lot of anger, sense of grievance, desire to strike out. Resentment and ego-wounds need to receive healing and understanding, as well as containment both physically and psychologically, to avoid spilling out uncontrollably.

Transiting Pluto sesquiquadrate Saturn, opposite Uranus, sesquiquadrate Pluto - a very tense bunch of aspects, fortunately Pluto is moving away from these now, although it won't be until the end of 2008 when it has completed it's series of direct/retrograde movements towards and away from these aspects. There is a need for reconstruction and rehabilitation between now and then to make use of the potential of this group of aspects.

Benazir Bhutto

In a blog entry on 3rd November 2007 it was pointed out that Pakistan's crisis was synchronising most strongly with Neptune's movements:

This past week both Neptune and Mercury have stationed and changed direction. It's Neptune in particular that the events in Pakistan are resonating with.

President Musharraf has his Sun at approximately 17 Leo 41 (his birth time is unavailable). Pakistan has its Sun at 21 Leo 07. The midpoint of the two is therefore approximately 19 Leo 24, with a longer-arc midpoint at 19 Aquarius 24. On 31st October Neptune stationed at 19 Aquarius 15.

As well as being opposite Pakistan's Sun and the abovementioned Sun-Sun midpoint, Neptune is also very closely square Pakistan's Ascendant-Descendant axis, very closely square its Jupiter, and - more widely - opposite its Venus and Saturn.

Benazir Bhutto has Pluto at 21 Leo 21.

Bhutto was killed today as the Moon at 21 Leo 27 conjoined her Pluto at 21 Leo 21, just 6 minutes of arc away, and opposed transiting Neptune at 20 Aquarius 07.

Transiting Neptune was also trine Bhutto's Neptune-Saturn conjunction, and sesquiquadrate her Mars.

Transiting Mars retrograde was at 01 Cancer 33, conjunct Bhutto's Mars at 4 Cancer 59 and her Sun at 29 Gemini 55. Transiting Sun was opposite her natal Mars. Thus there was a doubling up of Sun-Mars.

Transiting Pluto at 28 Sagittarius 59 was opposite her Sun.

All these speak of the potential for inflammation of tension, risk-taking actions, dare-devil behaviour, and sacrifice.

There is clearly great risk of escalating violence in this situation and a consequent need to resolve grievances in non-violent ways, but where emotions run high will it prove possible?
